What is Unoccupied Setback in a thermostat schedule?
Unoccupied Setback:
If you see Unoccupied Setback on your thermostat’s schedule, this means that the thermostat has a third-party occupancy sensor wired to it. The Unoccupied Setback setting automatically sets back the heat and cool temperature set points at the thermostat when the room is unoccupied (people are NOT present) versus occupied (people are present).
Note: If you see Unoccupied Setback on a shared schedule, setting the Unoccupied Setback only affects thermostat that have occupancy sensors. Thermostats that do NOT have occupancy sensors will follow the standard schedule and ignore the Unoccupied Setback configuration.
When the room is occupied (people are present):
When the room is occupied (people are present), the thermostat will revert to the scheduled heat and cool set points that last occurred.
For example, if there is a scheduled set time for 7:00AM with a heat set point of 68°F and a cool set point of 73°F, if the room becomes occupied at 8:00AM the thermostat will set its heat set point to 68°F and its cool set point to 73°F.
When the room is unoccupied (people are NOT present):
When the room goes unoccupied, the thermostat will set its Heat and Cool set points back the number of Unoccupied Setback degrees you set in the last occurred scheduled set time.
For example, if there is a scheduled set time for 7:00AM with a heat set point of 68°F, a cool set point of 73°F, and an Unoccupied Setback of 10°F: If the room becomes occupied at 8:00AM the thermostat will set its heat set point to 68°F and its cool set point to 73°F. If the room goes unoccupied at 12:00PM, the thermostat will set its heat set point to 58°F (68°F-10°F) and its cool set point to 83°F (73°F+10°F).
If you want to thermostat to turn to OFF when Unoccupied, set the Unoccupied Setback to OFF.
What about the Fan?
The default function of the thermostat is for the Fan to not change based on the occupancy sensor. Instead, the fan setting will adjust based on how the schedule is set.
If you want the Fan to go to AUTO when unoccupied, contact Pelican Technical Support and they can provide that configuration.
