How do I adjust a room temperature?
On your Pelican App's navigate to a thermostat's climate control screen.
Setting the System
Select “System” and then select one of the follow modes:
System Mode: AUTO
In AUTO mode, your thermostat will provide you with both Cool and Heat set-points.
System Mode: HEAT
In HEAT mode, your thermostat will provide you with a Heat set-point.
System Mode: COOL
In COOL mode, your thermostat will provide you with a Cool set-point.
System Mode: OFF
In OFF mode, your thermostat will have no set-points.
Once a mode is selected, you will see slides next to Heat Setting and/or Cool Setting.
Cool Setting: Move the slider until you are at the cool set-point you want the room to be at.
Heat Setting: Move the slider until you are at the heat set-point you want the room to be at.
The system restricts your Heat and Cool Setting to being at lease 3°F apart. This dead-band prevents your thermostat from fighting itself.
When I adjust one of my set points, why does it automatically adjust the other?
This is called a dead-band.
A dead-band prevents a thermostat from accidentally fighting itself, IE: If, after a cooling cycle, the room temperature drops below the heat set-point, you don’t want your thermostat to then turn on the heat, heat up the space above the cool set-point, then re-enable cooling and start battling itself. This is both uncomfortable and energy inefficient.
Pelican auto enforces a 3°F heat and cool set-point dead-band, and, as an extra precaution, the thermostat will auto-adjusts this dead-band to up to 5°F to further prevent thermostat fighting.
