When setting up your Pelican site, it’s crucial to select the appropriate Site Type to ensure optimal functionality and accurate subscription management. Below are the available options and their specific applications:
Site Type Options
Business (Most Common)
- Description: Suitable for commercial properties, government buildings, schools, and similar facilities.
- Usage: Select this option if your facility operates in a commercial capacity.
Subscription: The Standard Subscription of $2.99 per thermostat per year is provided free for the first year, then charged annually thereafter. Click here to learn more.
Hotel
- Description: Designed for facilities operating as hotels, particularly those integrating Pelican’s Property Management System (PMS) Interface.
- Usage: Opt for this type if Pelican devices are installed in guest rooms and connected to the hotel’s PMS.
- Subscription: The Enhanced Subscription of $3.99 per thermostat per year is provided free for the first year, then charged annually thereafter. Click here to learn more.
Residential
- Description: Intended for single-family homes.
- Usage: Choose this type if the site is a private residence.

Important Considerations for Hotel Site Type
Enhanced Subscription Tier:
Selecting the Hotel site type may place your subscription into the Enhanced Tier due to the additional functionalities provided, such as automated energy-saving sequences in vacant guest rooms. Click here to learn more.
Common Areas Only:
If Pelican devices are installed solely in the hotel’s common areas (e.g., lobbies, conference rooms) and not in guest rooms, it’s advisable to select the Business site type to align with your facility’s usage and subscription needs.
